    Guiding and Training

    Maybe you are an individual who is seeking a little advice on riding, or perhaps your organisation requires full event planning and support.

    In either case and at all the points in between, Ride and Repair can provide all the resources you need.

    Ride and Repair employs qualified cycle guides and cycling experts with years of knowledge and experience to pass on.

    Our friendly and supportive service specialises in helping those who are new to cycling, mountain biking and touring or for those who haven't been out on their bikes for a while.
    We can also help experienced cyclists who wish to progress further towards their goals.

    Ride and Repair will give you a real boost in knowledge, skills and confidence, so you can be happy riding your bike.

    All sessions will have clear aims and objectives and take .
    You'll not only have alot of fun learning with Ride and Repair, but you'll also get to take away a range of clear and concise learning resources.

    Our event support packages mean that everyone participating in an event can be confident that they are being well looked after by a friendly, experienced and competent team.

    Basic Maintenance Courses:

    BASIC PART ONE: Bike set up and roadside repairs

    90min duration. Designed to teach cyclists how to carry out the essential repairs and set up their bikes.

  • Anatomy of the bike - What everything is called

  • Bike set up
  • Preparing for a journey - What to take with you
  • Tyre wear advice, puncture repair, blown tyre solutions

  • BASIC PART TWO: Basic brake and gear adjustments

    90min duration. Designed to teach cyclists how to correctly adjust brakes and gears.

  • Brakes, how to replace brake blocks, pads and balance.
  • Gears, how to index and what those little screws do!
  • Cleaning and lubricating
  • The basic courses are very hands on. All equipment is provided, the instructor will provide a cleaned bike with various mechanical problems and demonstrate how to fix each one. – there is no need to bring a bike or any tools.

    Each basic course can be delivered to groups of up to 4-6
    Part One = £20.00pp
    Part Two = £20.00pp
    Parts One and Two = £37.50pp when delivered together

    Basic course price for one individual is £75.00 for each part.

    Intermediate Maintenance Courses:

    INTERMEDIATE PART ONE: Drivetrain - Chain, cassette and chainrings

    Up to 2 hrs duration. Aimed at cyclists who would like to know more about maintaining their bikes and keep them running smoothly. Perfect for cyclists who already have basic bike maintenance knowledge and want to improve their skills further.

    Your instructor will provide a cleaned bike with various mechanical problems and demonstrate how to fix each one.

  • Fix a broken chain
  • Fitting a new chain
  • Replace a worn cassette
  • Remove and fit a chainset/chainrings
  • Fitting a new rear mech

  • INTERMEDIATE PART TWO: Drivetrain - Cables, mechs and pedals

    Up to 2 hrs duration. Aimed at cyclists who would like to know more about maintaining their bikes and keep them running smoothly. Perfect for cyclists who already have basic bike maintenance knowledge and want to improve their skills further.

    Your instructor will provide a cleaned bike with various mechanical problems and demonstrate how to fix each one.

  • Changing cables
  • Fitting a new front mech
  • Fitting new pedals
  • Setting up cleats
  • Replacing bar tape and grips
  • All equipment is provided – there is no need to bring a bike or any tools. If a group member’s bike would benefit from any of the above then the bike can be brought along and they would pay for any parts used. Note: this is by prior arrangement only.

    Each intermediate course can be delivered to groups of 4-6 people.
    Part One = £25.00pp
    Part Two = £25.00pp
    Parts One and Two = £45.00pp when delivered together

    Advanced Maintenance Courses:

    ADVANCED PART ONE: Brakes

    Up to 2 hrs duration. Aimed at cyclists who would like to know more about maintaining their bikes and keep them running smoothly. Perfect for cyclists who already have basic and intermediate bike maintenance knowledge and want to improve their skills further.

    Your instructor will provide a cleaned bike with various mechanical problems and demonstrate how to fix each one.

  • Replacing brake cables
  • Replacing disc brake pads
  • Adjusting disc brakes (cable and hydraulic)
  • Cleaning pads and rotors
  • Bleeding brakes

  • ADVANCED PART TWO: Headset, bottom bracket and wheel trueing

    Up to 2 hrs duration. Aimed at cyclists who would like to know more about maintaining their bikes and keep them running smoothly. Perfect for cyclists who already have basic and intermediate bike maintenance knowledge and want to improve their skills further.

    Your instructor will provide a cleaned bike with various mechanical problems and demonstrate how to fix each one.

  • Replacing a bottom bracket
  • Replacing a headset
  • Trueing wheels
  • Checking and adjusting wheel bearings
  • All equipment is provided – there is no need to bring a bike or any tools. If a group member’s bike would benefit from any of the above then the bike can be brought along and they would pay for any parts used. Note: this is by prior arrangement only.

    Each advanced course can be delivered to groups of 3 - 6 people.
    Part One = £30.00pp
    Part Two = £30.00pp
    Parts One and Two = £50.00pp when delivered together

    Full Day Courses:

    BIKE BUILD COURSE:

    Up to 8 hrs duration. Aimed at cyclists who want to go through the whole process of building up a bike. Covers all the main elements of the Intermediate and Advanced courses.

    Recommended for reasonably experienced cyclists and is particularly suitable if you have a bike of your own you want to build up and learn along the way.

    All tools are provided. Any additional parts can be provided at additional cost. Note: this is by prior arrangement only.

    This course can be delivered to groups of no more than 3 people for £80.00pp. Please contact us to discuss.
    Course price for one individual is £180.00
